Pickens County Medical Center Carrollton Alabama

The Swing Bed Program at Pickens County Medical Center is a program designed to provide rehabilitative services or skilled nursing care before a patient returns home.

The goal of the PCMC Swing Bed Program is to help patients improve their physical, social, and emotional functioning through skilled nursing care and therapy.

Referrals are made by a physician when a patient no longer needs an acute level of care but still has a skilled need to stay in the hospital.

The Pickens County Medical Center Swing Bed Program is an extension of the hospital stay to help patients heal and gain strength so they can regain their independence and return home. The staff of the PCMC Swing Bed Program will work with patients and their families to create treatment plans based on each patient’s individual needs.

Patients who are recovering and need extended care or rehabilitation may be eligible for this program. Medicare requires that a patient must have a qualifying three-midnight acute care stay within the last thirty days to be eligible for Swing Bed care.

The Swing Bed Program will provide the following services:

Physical Therapy
